Mission Statement

The mission of Martha's Vineyard Hospital is to safeguard the health of Martha's Vineyard residents (year-round, seasonal and visitors) by providing or arranging for the provision of high-quality, accessible medical care. This care will be provided to all, regardless of their ability to pay, in an atmosphere that fosters respect and compassion.

Vision

Martha's Vineyard Hospital's vision is to be a strong, vibrant hospital, committed to meeting both the inpatient acute-care needs as well as the ambulatory medical care and ancillary medical service needs of the community. Martha's Vineyard Hospital is further committed to partnering with those with whom we share compatible values to assure a system of care that is comprehensive and minimizes duplication. Our vision calls us to:

• Collaborate with other providers of medical care to create a "virtually" integrated system of care.
• Develop relationships with off-island tertiary care facilities.
• Explore new programs that will build upon current program strengths, as well as fill strategic and medically necessary gaps in service. Such initiatives must be determined to be financially feasible prior to implementation.
• Develop a strategic physician recruitment program to meet the community need for additional high-quality physicians.
• Recognize developing concepts of complementary care and incorporate these concepts, when appropriate.
• Embrace high standards of quality initiatives so as to provide optimal clinical outcomes.
• Provide responsible fiscal stewardship to ensure financial stability.
