MAKING THE DIFFERENCE

The new Martha's Vineyard Hospital will be funded through the generosity of our valued donors and community members. Please join us in Building for the Next Generation. Gifts can be pledged and paid over 2 to 5 years, in monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual installments. Gifts of $5000 or more will be honored with special permanent recognition in the new building. For those of you with the greatest ability to give, we offer many named giving opportunities. Donors may dedicate areas in their own names, or in honor or memory of family or friends.

Ways to give

A Gift of Cash
Gifts of cash, paid outright or pledged over two to five years, provide immediate support for A New Beginning, the campaign for Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
A Gift of Securities
Gifts of long-term, appreciated securities provide the same benefits as cash to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and offer you the additional benefit of paying no capital gains tax.
A Gift of Real Estate
We would be happy to explore the options and benefits with you of considering the gift of a home, vacation property, condominium, undeveloped land, or other real estate. Real estate contributed outright, in trust, or through a part gift/part sale arrangement provides a way to avoid or substantially reduce capital gains tax.
A Gift of a Personal Residence or Farm with Retained Use
This may be an excellent way to support Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. It is possible to transfer ownership of your personal residence or farm to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital while retaining the enjoyment of the property for the remainder of your lifetime.
A Gift of a New Life Insurance Policy
You can make a magnificent commitment to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital through the purchase of a life insurance gift. Through relatively modest annual gifts which are used to pay premiums on the policy, you can create a far greater gift than might otherwise be possible.
A Gift of an Existing Life Insurance Policy
Many people own insurance policies that are no longer needed for their original purposes. Such policies can be given to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and you will be entitled to an income tax deduction for the cash surrender value, and the amount of any future premiums paid.
A Gift of an Income Stream
You can provide annual payments to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital from a pool of assets that later will be distributed to your heirs. Known as a Charitable Lead Trust, this plan allows you to direct income payments to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for a specific number of years. At the end of the trust’s term, assets are transferred to family members at a reduced transfer tax.
A Gift Through Your Will
If you are 70 years of age or older, Martha’s Vineyard Hospital will honor your intentions to provide a charitable bequest to the campaign by giving full gift credit for the documented value of your bequest.
