Care and Treatment at Martha's Vineyard Hospital

Our Outpatient Dialysis Unit utilizes state-of-the-art equipment that maximizes the benefits of treatment for every patient with renal disease. Our staff make every effort to meet patients’ varying scheduling needs, including those of working Islanders and vacationers. We know that beginning dialysis can be challenging for patients. To meet the needs of patients and their families before and after dialysis begins, we offer every patient individualized nutrition information and other support services.

Martha’s Vineyard Hospital’s Dialysis Department has provided outpatient dialysis care on the Vineyard since 1988. Our services include In-Center hemodialysis treatment, patient education and training, and referral to the Kidney Transplant Program at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Availability of our dialysis chairs are limited during June through September. We request 6 months in advance notice to request slots during this time.

During the months from October to May, please reach out at least 4 weeks in advance of your needs.

Please note that a physician referral is required for dialysis at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
